Scanning tunneling microscopy

We perform STM measurements at low temperature using our home made systems (both STM head and cryostat). This systems combines the high spatial resolution of the STM to the high energetic resolution of at low temperature cryostat. Our cryostat is an inverted dillution refrigerator which allows us to work down to 100 mK. At this temperature our energetic resolution in spectroscopy mode is about 150 µeV. The cooling time is about 2 days and the dillution can remain at low temperature for months.
